Rxiry FR1200: It Can “Calculate” the World Around You

time:2026-08-04   Visits:15

For professionals working in power-line inspection, forestry surveys, and construction surveying, the word “distance” means much more than a number on a measuring tape.

It can represent the information you need to understand the real situation when you are standing beneath a transmission tower, in front of a tree, or on the edge of a cliff. Want to measure the height of a tree? You may have to climb it, which can be dangerous. Need to measure conductor sag across a river? You simply cannot reach the measurement point. When your equipment cannot keep up, you have to do the extra walking yourself—and after a full day in the field, you may be exhausted while the data is still not accurate enough.

After spending more than half a month using the Rxiry FR1200, we found that it can help eliminate many of these problems. It is more than a laser rangefinder. It works like a mobile measurement and calculation workstation, combining measurement with intelligent calculation and expanding what a rangefinder can do in professional fieldwork.

Accuracy Comes First

Let’s start with the most important question: How accurate is it?

Reliable data is the foundation of professional measurement. The Rxiry FR1200 delivers accuracy of ±4 cm within 600 meters. To put that into perspective, even when measuring a 20-story building, the potential error is less than half the width of a fist.

At its maximum range of 1200 meters, accuracy remains within ±10 cm, with a measurement success rate of over 98%.

This performance is supported by a 1 kHz laser emission frequency and a 905 nm Class 1 laser. Each measurement is processed within milliseconds. Even under strong outdoor lighting, the high-transmission LCD remains easy to read, while the 8× optical system with BAK9 lenses helps users aim and read measurements efficiently.

More Than Distance: Calculating Heights and Hard-to-Reach Measurements

Accuracy is only the foundation. What really makes the FR1200 useful in the field is its range of indirect measurement functions, which can save professionals from unnecessary climbing and walking.

In the past, measuring the height of a high-voltage transmission tower often meant climbing up to attach a measuring tool or relying on visual estimation. Neither approach is ideal.

The FR1200 offers Two-Point Height Measurement (HT) and Three-Point Height Measurement (HD HT) modes:

Two-Point Height Measurement: When the laser can reach at least one of the target’s upper or lower points, simply aim at the required points and take the measurements. The device calculates the height automatically.

Three-Point Height Measurement: This mode is especially useful when both the top and bottom of a target cannot be reached by the laser—for example, when dense foliage blocks the tree crown or vegetation covers the base. Simply find a reflective point on the trunk as a reference, and the device uses geometric calculations to determine the height.

For power-line professionals, this can make a major difference. When combined with the Rxiry dedicated app, the FR1200 can also support professional functions such as conductor sag measurement, crossing distance measurement, conductor-to-ground height measurement, and hazardous-tree assessment.

Tasks that previously required two people, measuring tapes, and lengthy manual calculations can now be completed by one operator from a safer location, often within just a few minutes.

Ready for Demanding Outdoor Environments

For outdoor professionals, fragile equipment can become a serious limitation. The FR1200 is built for field conditions, featuring IP65 protection against dust and water exposure and an operating temperature range of -20°C to 55°C, covering a wide range of outdoor working environments.

Battery life is another advantage. Powered by a single 18650 rechargeable lithium battery, the device can support up to 20 hours of continuous operation, so a full day of fieldwork can be completed without constantly worrying about finding a power source.

Despite its professional capabilities, the FR1200 weighs just 456 g, making it easy to carry in a field bag. It also features a standard ¼-inch tripod mount, allowing users to mount the device for more stable long-distance observation and measurement when needed.
